Established as an outdoor kiosk in 1996, 2% Jazz Coffee swiftly became a community staple known for its exceptional coffee and distinctive character. After braving the elements for years, the decision was made to transition indoors, opening a cafe just steps away from the original kiosk location.
Founded by Sam Jones, a seasoned hospitality professional and a trailblazer in Victoria's 3rd wave coffee movement, 2% Jazz has evolved into a brand synonymous with quality. Sam and his team have meticulously sourced and roasted their own beans, expanding 2% to multiple locations and establishing wholesale partnerships across the city.
The visionary Sam has expanded the 2% brand with the introduction of "Sequoia," a second chain of shops servicing the Royal BC Museum, hinting at a promising future.
A “Boots on the Ground” Approach to Sourcing.
Recognizing that great roasted coffee begins with exceptional green beans, 2% Jazz prioritizes quality sourcing. Ethical considerations are paramount, with a commitment to direct sourcing from producers worldwide. In regions like Guatemala and Nicaragua, Sam and his team have fostered strong relationships with farmers, eliminating intermediaries to ensure a direct and ethical supply chain. The dedication to both quality and ethical practices sets 2% Jazz apart in the world of coffee.
